Any suggestions, thanks

You really need to be a little more specific!

If you are asking what kinds of things you need to arrange immediately - water,
phone, gas and electricity come to mind. Trash pickup in some areas must be
arranged privately or a city approved trash can ordered. Cable service or Sat TV
(recommended) may also be high on the list. (Keep in mind that if you are buying
in a major metro area (like LA), there will be many free OTA channels that just
require an antenna. Despite advertising to the contrary, TV is not a basic
necessity.)

If you are asking what expenses will need to be covered immediately, the number
one item is any necessary appliances that weren't included in the house deal.
Number two is window coverings. Number three is furniture.

Home insurance wasn't listed above because that is usually a requirement to
close if you have taken out a mortgage. If you paid 100% cash, it's absolutely
necessary.

There will be lots of things to spend money on - the first 3-5 years can be
quite expensive in a new home.
