Default How to remove mold in house

I have three occurrences of mold in my house. First, a large area on
the sheeting in the attic. Second, around a toilet where the wax seal
has broken. And third, in the wall behind the washer where there is a
plumbing leak. The mold behind the washer is toxic, but does not
cover a large area.

I have had all the mold tested and have talked to an abatement firm.
Now I am being told I need to have the air quality tested in my house
to establish a "control group" to do comparisons with when the mold is
being removed. This will cost more money. I am also being told I need
to have a protocol written by a certified mold estimator before the
abatement company can do the estimate. This will cost at least another
$800.

I feel like I am being scammed. I simply want the mold removed. I know
what kind of mold it is, and can keep my asthmatic son out of the
house for a few days following removal. I know that getting the
sheeting on the roof is expensive, but I am concerned about using a
chemical solution on such a large area since my son is asthmatic. Will
a roofing company take off sheeting that has mold, or will they treat
that with kid gloves?

I checked the state of Illinois website and it along with others
offered a way to clean up the mold using a bleach water solution. Is
this advisable? The attic ceiling is too large of an area for that,
but the others are not. I would prefer to have a professional clean it
up, but don't want to have to pay unnecessary money for additional
testing or for someone to write up a protocol on the steps to follow.
I am tired of people coming out and taking pictures, and then telling
me I need someone else to come out, and no one is explaining anything
to me.

How do I find someone good just to clean up the mold without having to
deal with all these other testers/protocol writers? Help!
