If that is still a 'regular' lawn mower engine, it probably "jumped
time". Sudden stop, flywheel mounted magneto, sheared the keyway or
pin, magneto isn't properly timed to TDC any more. Quite common.
Take it to the shop, tell them what happened, they will know.

BTW, watch out for a NASTY backfire that could injure your wrist, if
you try to pull the cord with the ignition timing in the wrong place.
