I've been asked to replace a wooden gatepost (95mm) that is placed
directly next to a concrete post.

The wooden post supports quite a heavy wooden gate and has broken at
the bottom where it rotted.

I'm planning to dig out the rotten wooden "root" of the post and put
another one in but use the concrete post to strengthen it by putting
some metal plates on.

It occurred to me to wonder whether the kind of resin used for resin
fixings would be any good as an adhesive in this situation - perhaps
inspired by the way silicon sealant can act as a very effective
adhesive when used on a shower screen!

This is exactly where I drag out my monster tub of car body filler
I use it for repairing all rotten wood, and all bondong of metal to wood
where weight and appearance is not a huge issue.

I have a problem with your use of the word issue.

Well **** nff then

ROFL, you censored the non-rude word.
