That was a choice, not a requirement.


A choice that you all applauded at the time and opined as to how
stupid the UK
had been not to join it when it could.


I don't know who you are thinking of, but I never said that.

Of course the EU was going to do it
better, you all said.

Problem the EU has is that the precautionary principle is apparently
wired
into the Lisbon Treaty. Which will hamper it as the years pass.

In the case of the Covid vaccine, the UK would not have been prevented
from doing exactly the same as it has done even if it had remained
within the EU. All EU member states had an option to proceed
individually, but chose not to.


And they chose not to for fear of displeasing their overlords.
