The idea is to soak the wood they eat, in Boric acid, either painted on or sprayed. Subterranean termites take the easy path between double joists. This is where they're concentrated. There's often a small gap between double joists where you can spray Boric acid. This would be the most effective use of Boric acid but they have to eat this treated wood.
