My EX BIL didn't bother with house insurance. It saved money. The house

The Monarchy is an insurance policy - as we saw in Brexit. The Queen has
to sign off this stuff before its legal. One day that might be worth the
millions a year she costs the nation

She doesn't cost the nation. The monarchy turns over to the nation all the
crown estate income and gets a fraction of it back to run the show with.
