And that's enough DIY for this weekend.

My lounge ones have been up for 2 years. Easier than taking them down.

Some of our outside lights remain in situ all year, generally those that need a ladder to remove, the rest come down with the tree usually the day after New Year this year we almost managed twelfth night.

We have three sets of outside lights - one wrapped around the 7' high
Japanese Willow, another along the Cotoneaster running along the front
fence and the last along the gutter. I use a ladder to put the gutter
ones up (clipped on with clips bent up from wire coat-hangers), but can
get them down, by pushing the clips up with a long stick, from ground
level. It took about 20 minutes to get them all down a packed away on
6th January.
