I have now read many other blogs back to 2004 and someone paid $600 to replace the Control assembly, Thermo Control, and Thermostat together by a Whirpool licensed repairman and it STILL happened again after repair that back in 2004. I have no doubt it's happened frequently over the years but consumers haven't reported it. This oven will be replaced and I will NEVER buy a Whirpool appliance again. We were very blessed to be home every time it occurred.

The electronic controls were prolly made in China. Maybe Joe Bribe'm can call Xi and get your money back?

On the plus side, at least you got 20 years out of it, which is probably about the
typical life and now you'll have a new oven. Did you notify Whirpool? What did they
say?

This is just the nature of electronic controls. One signal line is as
likely to fail as any other.
I tried to find a replacement oven with no electronics and had no
luck. My old Whirlpool with mechanical controls lasted almost 40 years
but the can inside finally rusted out.
It was still working fine tho.
