Thirty years ago they were setting up a pharmacy network where they
would share prescription data. The intent at the time was to prevent
drug incompatibility problems and make prescriptions more portable.
HIPAA may have stopped that but if it still exists it would be the
perfect platform to coordinate these vaccines.
Florida finally set up a one call, 24/7 system to get in line for an
appointment but it is only for state/county sites. They really need to
expand that to all sites. Right now the grocery chain that gets
vaccine will only schedule for the vaccines they have available so the
site sells out within minutes of it opening.
They really need a cross platform way to schedule the private
distribution.
It still depends on supply and that seems to be the bottleneck.
