Sounds like a total cock-up by EON. Your supplier may not be able to
get readings from the smart meters. But you should be able to see the
readings on the "in home display" they should have left with you.

So next time they ask you for readings you could tell them:

a. you are too old to read the meters;

b. you want them either (i) to get your in home display so you can get
the readings there or (ii) to treat you as having "dumb" meters and send
a meter reader from time to time.
