It's a bit of a palaver, but what you do is:
Find an item that you want, but select one of the ones from a market
place seller that has a non-fused 3 pin plug. One that is 'fulfilled by
Amazon'.
When it arrives, call customer services and explain that it's illegal to
sell this item, and it's a criminal offence.
They'll refund you and tell you to bin the item.
At last, you've got a use for one of those old 3 pin plugs you've been
saving all these years!
"Big Clive" featured a Chinese string of festive lights recently
with a convincing UK plug (well, apart from the shrouded earth
pin).
Problem was, the lights still worked with the fuse removed.
I visited the Finnish radio museum a few years ago, in the old
transmitting hall under the main antenna of the Lahti long-wave
transmitter. The flurorescent lights worked there without being
plugged in.
