At end of hunt everybody was shooting out their gun. In PA, if you
removed primer gun was considered unloaded.

My brother in law and I were shooting a BP rifle when we had a misfire.
Eventually we got the damn thing to fire. No big deal except I was late
picking up my mother. It might have been less painful to throw it in the
trunk and pray that it wasn't a really delayed hangfire than dealing
with her.
