Wasn't there a plastic tub of grease in the case/box?
Â*No.

Dip your bit a few times & try it before you bin it?
Â*Will do if I can find some grease. It goes in okay, it just doesn't
seem to be gripped by the SDS mechanism in the usual way. It's
captive and locks for turning, but rattly.

Might be worth flushing and working "chuck" with WD40 or similar
first. And/or blowing out with an air line if you have one.

If it's never been greased there may be a lot of grit and dust in
there. They do need to be lubricated IMHO.

Graphite lubricant?

CV boot grease. Most garages have loads of spare sachets.

The outer part of the *chuck* mechanism went astray on mine, ( kango,
but the tool retention must be the same) revealing a captive steel ball
retained by a spring loaded sleeve.

I haven't bothered to get spares and occasionally the ball drops out.
