I meant that Britain didnt have a civil war over slavery
because the slave owners were generously compensated.

But the other possibility is that the slaves were all in the
colonies, not in Britain itself, and mostly in the Bahamas etc.

Then again, those holding the property were acting
in a highly immoral manner


The South had an evil streak in it


Or decided that the civil war was about a lot more than just slavery.


That is an excuse to down play a noble act on the part of
the united states. There are those that wish to wash away
all our achievements and revise our history.


I was commenting on why the south chose to go to war.
