(Bloomberg) -- Hydroxychloroquine, the 65-year-old malaria drug that
President Donald Trump has praised, appeared not to help patients get
rid of the pathogen in a small study

The pill didnt help patients clear the virus better than standard care
and was much more likely to cause side effects, according to a study of
150 hospitalized patients by doctors at 16 centers in China. The
research, which hasnt been peer-reviewed, was released Tuesday.

The drug did help alleviate some clinical symptoms of Covid-19, however,
and the patients who took it showed a greater drop in C-reactive
protein, a measure of inflammation.

Very confusing. On the other hand we have a Jewish doc in NYC that as of
a week ago says he and his fellow docs have treated 600+ patients with
excellent results, not one patient died, not one needed to be intubated,
that only 10% had side effects of some nausea and diarrhea. The interesting
thing is while the media can find all the negatives about these drugs,
they obviously refuse to go find the NYC doc, in the very center of the
pandemic. Or any other doc reporting success, or to follow up with their
patients. That is an example of where Trump is right about the bias of
most of the media.

I think it has to be combined with a zinc compound and another drug. I
hear reports that it works well. Stupid of those who relate this to
Trump who heard it was working and injected optimism.

Good point - there is no mention of zinc in the study abstract :

The zinc and antibiotic in the cocktail are likely every bit as
effective as the Chloquine and MAY be as effective without it --- The
tests have not been done.

It sounds like they are being done, in real time, on real patients.
This is "**** on a sparkplug" medicine. (movie reference, Barry Corbin
- War Games).
Not a totally irrelevant reference. ;-)
