Why not? It's very good protection against standard or hammer drills.

IME any sort of drill will go straight through metal capping as if it
wasn't there.

Masonry drills won't.

That is my experience. They'll simply polish the galvanised channelling
and take ages to penetrate. PVC serves no protective purpose.

SDS is another matter.
