If Johnson and co. had half a brain they would be
stressing this fact, if such it is, and using it
to target smokers.

As it is they're simply covering their arses so as
to allow for the worst contingency.

While according to a letter quoted in Private Eye
there is a lot of resentment among retired GP's
who without any prior consolation are apparently being
drafted in as "cannon fodder" to mask the Govt's
penny pinching and lack of any provision whatsoever
for such contingencies.

Basically the Govt are engaged in a misinformation
exercise exaggerating the risk so that no matter
what happens they can be seen to have at least done
something. "Don't say we didn't warn you ! Can't
find any sanitiser in the shops ? You're not looking
hard enough !"
