I knew some guys who were running Baltimore to Jacksonville 2 or 3
times a week. There were other guys with regular routes up and down
I-95 and they liked to do it at night. One guy was running coal from
West Virginia to Dahlgren Va. It was real pretty stuff, shiny
anthracite that looked like black diamonds. I rescued him one night on
270 and we were buddies. He gave me a pile of that and it I burned it
in my coal stove for a couple years.

I forget the exact cities but I was empty in Virginia and my dispatcher
sent me over to West Virginia to pick up a load. She gave me the routing
and I said "You're sure about this?" "Yup, it's a truck route." It was,
but it was a coal truck route and it was summertime. The canopy was
pruned back to 12' by the coal haulers, but I was 13' 6". I got to where
I was going and hit the closest truck stop to get the clearance lights
replaced on the trailer.

That wasn't as bad as Arkansas. It probably has something to do with
Federal funding but everything in Arkansas is designated as a truck
route even if you'd have a hard time making the switchbacks in a Prius.
