Following the installation of a new kitchen & aplliances,
replacement cooker cable, new lighting, switches, sockets etc etc a
friend is being told by the "fitter" that no certification is
required as the electrical works are "minor"..

They should request an electrical installation completion certificate as
a minimum.

Not if it is minor works, just a minor works certificate is required.

Does is sound like "minor works"?

It is possible the fitter is mixing up Part P notification with basic
electrical certificates.

Now it could be a mistake on his part or he could be lying through his
teeth when he says no certification is needed.

If all the work was in the kitchen, using existing cirtuits, such as
just a new cable from the cooker isolation switch, might it not just be
minor work? Are kitchens still obligatory Part P?
