A Bachelor of Arts in criminology is useful; English literature not so
much.

That's right.Â* Friends daughter has one in art history and now works as
an office clerk.

My wife had a BA in art history but she followed that up with a MA in
library science. It worked out well for her. She retired as a curator at
Columbia University. She had a plan; I never did.

If it opened the door to a higher education, that's fine. Most good
jobs tend to need the higher education. Our two lawyer sons stared with
BS's in business administration.

If you can cut it, I think STEM degrees are best and even then you need
advanced degrees. They open more pathways. I know lawyers with degrees
in science but know no scientists with degrees in liberal arts.
