Maybe you could find somebody who is able explain to you the difference
beween chlorine, and "chlorine based chemicals" in language you can
understand.

hint: you'll probably find the manufacture of the latter is a bit more
complicated, if only because it consists of three words rather than
one.

HTH

Does that mean they'll be a shortage of salt in my local chippie ?

There's no shortage of salt.

Chlorine is made from salt, in the form of brine, not the other way round.

So not all chlorine based products will be in short supply.

It's what happens to the chlorine after its been extracted from the salt
that's being discussed here.

I assume that we could extract the chlorine from salt here in the UK then so that's sorted ;-)

Possibly you could persuade someone in your Chemistry Department to
explain all this to you. Either that or write to the Runcorn Tourist Board
about conducted tours of salt mines.

I didn't know that we got our salt from EU salt mines.

I know racing goes on is it utah salt flats, but I might be a bit worried by negotiating a deal with mormans.

So why are we worried abohut chlorine based products ?
