Funny looking rasp, not like a Surform or traditional rasp, more like
a kitchen grater. Just use it as is, holding the sides. Or if you must
have a handle, make a wooden replacement for the whole plastic part and
fix the blade to that.
Note that it appears to cut on the pull - were you pushing too hard?
