We've been doing it much longer than that. 80 years. You can only use so
much sewerage sludge and its now opposed for good reasons, industrial
contamination, the increase in medical drugs which can remain stable
after composting and so on. I get the impression the organic guys give
it a miss.

Interestingly one of the inhabited Scottish isles had issue with this.
They ate a lot of fish and sea birds [who ate a lot of fish] and
eventually the build up of contaminates did the soil in.
