This is a 80,000 lbs capacity forklift... I hope that I will somehow
keep it busy...

Wow! Looks very similar!

Same maker. They are very..very good lifts. You did good.

Btw...they will pick up 42,000 lbs with no problem. You just have to
add some more counterweights....

The job I finished 2 weeks ago...no particular order..I need to
organize the photos a bit... they were taken with 2 digital
cameras..and my phone.

Was that a scrap job?

I took 22 tons of "scrap"..mostly unused materials or materials that
had been used in field projects...to the recycler. Everything else
was either sold, or moved out to other sites for storage.

Quality On-site Machining.. Jim is a millwright..used to be a field
tech for General Electric..typically rebuilding boilers and turbines
all over the world. He was scheduled 395 days a year. When his kids
started walking..he wanted some parent time with them..GE refused to
give him time off a couple times a month..so he said **** You and
quit. He opened his own shop almost 24 yrs ago and did his work in So
Cal..everything from building titanium rolling mills to fixing 41,000
Ton (per square inch) forging presses. His knees were ****..his back
was going out..he turned 70...and we discussed it..and he
said..****it. He decided to sell the building (12,000 sqft), his
machinery.. and retire. He was looking to get $120k for the contents
and walk away. Several dealers screwed around with him...so I made
some phone calls..talked to some people and to date..we have sold
about half the stuff in the shop..for $140k. A machine tool dealer
offered to move the big stuff out to his storage area and store it..as
long as he was the one to sell it...for 15% So we emptied the
building..selling what we could...storing some of the big stuff when
we had interest but no buyers. Oh..he put the building up on the
market..thinking we would have months to clear it out..and it sold for
$2+ million within 2 weeks. And they gave us a month to empty it.
They had to give us a 9 day extension..had some issues with movers not
showing up.

So we sorted through everything..tossed out the above
materials..tossed a bunch of good stuff that we couldnt find buyers
for in thos 5 weeks..I snagged a bit of t his and that..he gave stuff
away to other shops..generally start ups..and we emptied the building.

Scrap was going from $192/ton-154/ton so we rented a good sized
forklift..had a big rolloff dumpster brought in (emptied 4 times) and
we hit it. Currently he is in Aridzona, looking at some homes on the
Colorado River, in the Lake Havasu area. His house has been paid for
for years, he owed a minimal amount on the building...so his plan is
to buy a place on the river, with a nice big hobby shop, move a bunch
of his hobby stuff (the cars, wood working equipment, mill, lathe,
welders etc) out there and then get his knees fixed.

I got paid for doing the job, not big money..but decent enough
money..he gave me that red pickup (new engine, new tranny, rebuilt
rear end)..which I was using to haul stuff to and from the storage
bins etc etc. Got misc stuff...scraping squares, plasma cutter, about
4000 lbs of this and that..2 motorcycles, a few hundred pounds of
books..metalworking/machinery related etc etc. I loaded up my flatbed
and towed it home with Moby Dick..my Great White Whale a couple weeks
ago..about 3000 lbs of stuff, and took my WellsCargo trailer down last
week and loaded up the remainder ( which Id moved and put into storage
2 weeks ago) ..anybody need a 5 gallon bucket full to the brim of
cable clamps? 36" pipe wrenchs? 3/4" sockets and drivers (6
sets..some China, most Proto? 1" shank sockets and drivers...mostly
Proto? Oh..I have a double door fridge filled with exotic welding
rods..lots of various SS electrodes, a hundred pounds of Nickle 99,
etc etc etc. Of course lots and lots of unopened and opened cans of
7018/8018/9018, 40 lbs of various TIG filler in unopened boxes..of all
sorts..etc etc.

With the truck and Stuff combined..I figure I scored about $5k in just
materials and tools..maybe $8k. Ive given a fair amount of stuff away
to some of my clients and of course, filled my rollaways (the red ones
in the photos) with tools and mics and 100 lbs of carbide milling
cutters (all new in packaging) etc etc. Much of which Ill be using in
my own home shop..(15) NMTB 40 taper holders for my mills..etc etc
etc. Oh..I filled a flatbed truck about 18" deep in pi tapes, and
mics up to 48". ID mics to 180"...the usual stuff..and sold it to
another start up. He made pretty good money on that deal....(Grin)

So yea...we scrapped a lot of stuff..but given what was there..just
some dead weight.

Gunner
