And even with only a handful of people in a bus, it still likely
uses less fuel than if each of those was driving a car.

Buses use at least six times the fuel a car uses.

Quite. So provided that bus has more than 6 passengers, it is using
less fuel than cars. As most cars have only the driver in them.

A big if.

Really? If the average number of passengers in a bus was only 6, why are
they usually so big?

They also generate a lot more particulates than a car and wear on the
roads with consequent repairs and pollution.

Oddly, the worst pot holed roads round here aren't bus routes.

That would be due to them fixing bus routes as a priority like they grit
them as a priority.

I'd have expected to see lots of men filling in the potholes if that was
the case. It is, however, likely the surface is better constructed on main
roads in the first place.

Be very interesting to have some real facts about bus pollution per
passenger mile versus the private car.

It would but it would be nice for it to be unbiased too.

What? Like those who never use buses saying they always run empty? never
turn up on time? And so on? ;-)
