What are you using to measure that?
The 46 amps came from a Fluke 337 that actually measures
peak inrush current. I think that's an important bit of info
when considering the design.

what motor are you pull-starting that draws more ?
The riding mower batteries cost about $ 60. and
they last about 5 years. Just buy one.
