Never noticed that, it must be a minute change.

There is a very great change from day to night on some frequencies. The
standard AM broadcast band only has a coverage of around 10 to 50 miles
in the daytime. Most nights stations halfway across the US can be
heard.

On other frequencies below around 20 to 30 MHz during the day they go
anywhere on earth,and at night just a few miles.
