That reminds me of the story of the Soviet nail factory that

a year's production tonnage requirement by making one enormous
spike.

I'll bet that didn't go over well. They risked the ire of the
carpenters, with their weapons of mass construction.

According to the story the bureaucrats of Gosplan (State Planning
Committee) awarded the factory manager the Order of Lenin for
exceeding his goal so well.
