You'd not use animal hair anyway these days. Plenty synthetic alternatives.
The recycling of plastic bottles - are they shredded for use as some
kind of coarse fibre?

A lot of the insulation layers in outdoor clothing comes from that
source . It was touted as a good example of green policy and a good
use of a waste product until recently when the recycled fibres have
been found to cause problems of their own by getting into the food
chain of marine creatures due to water used for clothes washing
carrying some off each time to end up eventually in the Oceans.
