I bought a phone jack with four terminals labeled "G" (green), "R" (red), "Y" (yellow), and "B" (black).
However, none of the wires in the telephone cable in the wall have those colors.

Which wire do I attach to each terminal in the phone jack?
Thanks in advance.
Bob, are you in a single family home or apartment? Do you have access to the phone company box on the outside of your home if you are in a house? Take a look at that and see how the wires are connected there. It appears from your pictures that someone made up their own color code. I did a lot of telecom work and if you get a wild hair, you could wire up everything properly so if a phone company tech ever came by, he/she/it would know what was what. Here's a link that shows the proper color code for a 25 pair phone cable but the same color code works for the 6 pair cable. If you look at the charts you can see what I mean if you look at the first 6 pairs. The second link was already posted by "Retired" which shows a conversion chart to solid color wires. The green wire is "Tip" and the red wire is "Ring". This corresponds to the old manual switchboards where the phone plug had a tip and ring that made the connection inside the switchboard jack. With your phones on hook,"hung up", you will see 24 to 50 volts dc on the active pair. There is a lot of technical information on the last two links which are to "sandman.com".ヽ(ヅ)ノ
