They did that until they started running out of numbers and added some
mobile codes. Of course, people move and keep the same mobile number.
Both my kids have a CT area code but one is in PS, the other FL.


Does the area code still matter if you have to pay for long distance?
Like if you get 214 (Dallas TX), people in other places have to pay to
call you.

BTW, I haven't had to for about 10 years.


It may have mattered years ago, but there is no longer "long distance"
calling rates AFAIK.
