Default Water Heater Flushing: Good idea or bad idea?

Excellent! However, with the new one or any Water Heater, it's never ever a
bad thing to flush. Flushing removes odors, tastes, dryness (micro-grit) and
restores optimal heating efficiency and is the only way to do so.

Additionally, don't replace the Hose Bibb or Compression Valve with a Ball
Valve. The Ball Valve will clog and can't really crush larger sediment balls,
but and Compression Valve can and does quite efficiently for a full and
complete flush.

Finally, extend the life of your or any non-rusting (internally) Water Heater
indefinitely by simply and cheaply replacing its Anode Rod every 3 to 7-years,
depending on how hard the water is. Your old Water Heater would still be going
strong if you replaced its Anode Rod 10-years ago and every 7-years (it
appears).
