You do realise it was 11 bit companded? CD being 16 bit?


I don't think MPEG-2 was even an audio standard.
It was MPEG layer 3 that was the audio standard and that was abbreviated
to MP3 so you can guess how poor that sounded.

11 bit companded is likely to sound better than MP3 but not CD.
