You plainly don't understand the difference between EU workers (and
others) coming here to work, and those fleeing oppression.

unskilled, penniless Romanian peasant and an unskilled, penniless Syrian
peasant?

The difference is that when neither are needed for the economy,
some countrys do choose to allow those who are likely to end up
dead into the country, at least until where they are coming from
is safe for them to return to. That's essentially why there are so
many of them in Turkey even tho Turkey has no need for them.
