No! In the early days of the "diesel takeover" manufacturers offered a
choice of engines on most models but increasingly it's diesel, diesel,
diesel and maybe one sporty petrol.

I had the choice of all diesels apart from one gutless petrol, and one
sporty 4WD petrol (I'd have liked the latter, but out of my price range).
