mR When I first instaled my dehumidifier in the basement, I put it in a
mR corner over a drain, it was boxed in by the furnace and washer
mR dryer, it cycled often and did not dehumidify well, I moved it to mid
mR room ran a hose to the drain and raised it up. The difference was
mR very noticable in controling humidity

what you said here doesn't make any sense. if it dehumidified in the

middle
of the room it will work anywhere, ( as it should) think about it

I suppose this looks like a dangerous thread to venture into, but it seems
pretty plausible that a humidifier boxed into a corner with nearby
obstructions is, compared to one out in the open, going to be recirculating
a greater proportion of dryer air that's already recently passed through it,
resulting in less extraction of water for a given time of use, and the
humidity control seeing dryer warmer air and cycling off more frequently.
Since that seems ever so obvious maybe this entire thread is actually a
comedy routine?

It could even dry the nearby corner surfaces faster than one out in the
open, depending on which way the warm air coming out of the machine is
directed, but that's less certain.
