Why? Nothing but trash and rotting food waste, not a bio hazard.

A crook once got into a prison trash compactor without the officer
knowing. He was compacted and later the trash truck dumped his body
at the land fill. They found his a body a day or two later. So much
for his escape. Now all prison compactors are locked.
