I need to mount a GPS antenna. It has a 1-14 internal thread. 3/4"
electrical fittings are similar, but they are .050" over 1". I need to
thread something to fit. Can you thread the O.D. of 3/4" PVC pipe, or
will the threads be too rough when you finish? I don't want to pay $11
for a piece of PVC with the thread that is made to mount one on a light
bar.

I may have some 3/4" aluminum conduit left, but I don't have a 1-14
die.

Invest $14 in a die on eBay, make 20 of the things, sell them for $9
each on eBay, and you'll come out ahead AND have the die for the
future? http://tinyurl.com/haso2dv

I did buy a die on Ebay, and rethreaded one end of a 3" piece of
3/4" pipe made for a sprinkler head. I didn't have a die handle big
enough to hold it, so it was fun holding the pipe in one hand, and the
die in the other to re-cut the threads.

AFTER I had it cut, I finally found a place to buy a handle.

snort Hand-threading pipe. I hope it was CPVC.

I have been off Usenet for some time, due to both health problems,

Condolences on your dancin' parts. Have you seen the new diabetes
cure going around the Web? Worth a look, if only for the distraction,
wot? http://u-read.org/no-diabetes As usual, rev up your anti-virus
and fortify your firewall before going to see these things.

and a problem with the anti-virus software on the old computer. Every
time it would update, it would remove files needed to run my news
reader. That would lock up the system, and flash its blue ass at me.

OMG, Mikey. What version of Win do you run? The BSOD was from the
-last- century's software.

I swear, most of the anti-virus people think that we ordered an
ADD-A-VIRUS software. After The God of DOS moved to Windows and sold
his soul to SlymeAntics, it became one of the worst in the biz. I ran
away quickly, over 2 decades ago.

Windows Security Essentials (free from MS) seems to keep me free from
virii. I was double- checking with IOBit's Advance Care System until
it, too, became a virus, doing things in the background when I
specifically told it not to, etc. I'm looking for a replacement which
works somewhat like ACS, but without the bad acting.

Works great, less filling!

nEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH acs, BUT YOU do HAVE TIO BE VIGILANT WHEN
INSTALLING IT TO PREVENT INSTALLATION OF ANOTHER HALF DOZEN OR MORE
PROGRAMS (DEPENDING WHERE YOU DOWNLOAD FROM)

Most of the other programs it installs work properly with no issues,
but the nagware to buy the products are at times a small pain in the
ass. Nothing malicious..just pesters you on occasion.

On the other hand..they do offer up free upgrades quite regularly even
to the free enduser.

I run Glary AND IOBIT, and Avast for Antivirus.
