Cameron resigned within hours of the referendum result. Parliament
hadn't met to discuss the issue


Indeed. Cameron resigned on the morning of the 24th. Parliament hadn't
sat since the 20th, when it was recalled for the day, primarily because
of the murder of an MP. Prior to that, it hadn't sat since the 15th.

From 3.30pm on the 27th, though, Parliament did discuss the outcome.
