They confirmed the Passat in question had the software, and it passed
the test.

Then they did a DIFFERENT test, and it gave readings that would have
failed the official test. Except the official test is very strictly
defined, including the rates of acceleration. Accelerating "hard" is a
very different kettle of fish.


They ran the same test except they fooled the software by not starting
in the normal test conditions.


Thereby doing a _different_ test.
