capacitor problem
On 20 Jan 2004 18:06:29 -0800,
(sdnk) put finger
to keyboard and composed:
hi I have print board which build in 1980's the capacitor is burned
when I plug the power, it labled as (+10, +35v) i think it is a
polarized 10uF, 35V but I am not sure, how long the capacitor last?
should I replace all of them on the board? (there are five of them
some labled as +1, 35v or 4.7uF 35V. thanks
Are they tantalum caps? If so, then replace all of them. Tantalums of
that era have a tendency to fail catastrophically. Aluminium
electrolytics of that age would be worth replacing as well.
