Fair comment, but I should have been a bit more clearer.
I have plexmedia on an smart samsung tv, and currently the music only
plays out through the wired speakers.

To an extent, the whole TV / wired speakers bit is a bit of a red
herring really. ISTM that you just want to be able to stream stuff from
your nas, to a room in your house. The fact that your TV can do this in
another room has nothing to do with it really - its just clouding the
actual requirements.
