Default How "loose" can a butane torch flame get?

http://www.amazon.com/Bernzomatic-TS...Z76PWSM6A H97

I don't know the terminology...

Some gardeners use a "flamer" for killing weeds. Looks like the little
ones have a concentrated flame (tight) but the bigger models (like
400,000 BTU) are more like a flamethrower where the flame is poorly
controlled and covers a wider area.

How "loose" can a standard butane torch get, like the torch in the link
above?

Can a butane torch be held facing downwards, at least 45° to the ground?

Thanks.
