They still have to prove that you didn’t comply with the conditions.

Which might include, for example, retaining your receipt from the shop,
or producing it on demand.

If they do, the burden of proof that you used the shop shifts to you.

So you think it perfectly reasonable to expect a customer to keep a
receipt for groceries for a couple of weeks?

It depends on what the conditions displayed actually are.

If you're supposed, for example, to give your registration number to the
cashier in the store, and you neglect to do so, then it's perfectly
reasonable.

Not if the cashier doesn’t ask for it.

It's the only proof you have.

Wrong again. The proof he has that he did shop in the store is the till
receipt.

And he is not required to prove anything, Lidl has to prove that he didn’t
and
they can't do that when they both have the proof that he did shop in the
store.
