I live in calif. And my bi-monthly bill is $167.00. I have no pool and my landscaping is desert themed. I would love a $350.00 yearly bill.

I've heard that the folks in Californiastan have trouble with calendars and simple math. It must be true. 8-)

Perhaps you can explain. I have to agree with him since he'd be $650
ahead with the $350 bill.

The original post is from 1999. 8-)

I'm wondering what they pay for water and if it is not cheap.

On a well myself but bachelor friend here in DE is paying about
$60/month. That sounds expensive as we have plenty of water and seldom
need to water lawns.

We have high water bills here in Birmingham, Alabamastan because Affirmative Action Morons wound up in charge of the county commission and turned the upgrade to the sewer system into a complete financial cluster coitus. All citizens on the county sewer system are having to pay for it now because it's on the water bill. The sewer charge is more than the charge for water. At our small house, the water used may be a few dollars but the minimum fee for water service is something like $16 but with the added charge for sewer service, the entire water bill will be $45-$50 minimum charge every month. Water bills used to be $10 to $12 a month for a normal sized home. Alabamastan rarely has a water shortage and I can only remember one drought in my adult lifetime. (second childhood now) 8-)

I have not paid a water or sewer bill in ~40 years but know sewer bill
is tied to water bill but is much less. Every now and them I get septic
pumped and well pump or pressure tank replaced but figure it only costs
half as much as having the services.

I was curious, googled LA water bill, did not find much but what I did
see was someone bitching about a bill of half the size of my friend's.

Fine hand of the government always screws up true cost.

Plenty of water in California. It's called the Pacific Ocean and
desalinization technology exists.
