I find the current "cloud" fad fascinating. It's almost as if
everyone
who came into IT in the 60s and 70s is now retiring leaving a bunch
of
young turks who have rocked up with the eternal conceit that it's
their
generation that invented the current incarnation of the sliced
loaf.

*applause*

Technology has always been like that. Cars are too.

...that is why I can't find one I want to buy

On the other hand, the current smartphones leave the alternatives for
dead.

Haven't felt the need for a smartphone ever.

Plenty of you dinosaurs said the same thing about phones,
cars, computers, in fact all technology.

plenty of idiots have to see the Emperor's new clothes ....... we are fussy
what gets hoisted on to us ....... I suppose you think having no spare wheel
is a good idea? ...... and that windows 8.1 is fantastic?

I was bored by computers until micros came out, then I was right ahead
of the game as they finally seemed to be cheap enough to be useful.

I have followed 'mobile' technology since its inception, and have never
actually had the need to indulge in almost all of it, laptops notebooks,
ipods, ipads and i phones. I do real work with computers sitting at a desk.

When away from that I don't really want phone calls and when I do a
simple phone is more than enough.
