Might not be relevant to you, but if you have a partner with a car, some
companies will transfer your partners NCB to you as well if you insure
another car with them.

We this last year with Esure, as I'd ended the named driver on her
insurance for a number of years. But AFAICR this wasn't a requirement
for the insurance, I just had to have been a driving for as many years
as the NCB. The credited me with her full 10+years , whatever it is NCB,
which I was able to use when I moved to a different insurer this year

The policy wasn't really anymore expensive.
