Go the clip lead route. Full 120V into the machine should light up the light but not run the motor, so see if you can find those two pins. Then going thru the old foot pedal, clip it in on the third pin and try each of the two primary pins. One of those two should allow you to run the motor by pushing on the foot pedal. The foot pedal is a variable resistance in series with the motor windings.
