Default Surge protection?

Post on controversial technical issues. Usually involving
simple science that is contrary to popularly held viewpoints.
Another urban myth is a widespread belief (almost a worship)
in Arctic Silver. Again so many advocate the stuff without
any knowledge or consideration of the numbers; without any
experience in thermal equations or thermal conductivity.
Plug-in surge protectors are widely promoted but technically
inaccurate myths. Why? Even before WWII, science understood
that surge protection is earthing; not some magical plug-in
box. The science is quite simple - and so rarely understood.

w_tom appears to be some kind of autoposter that springs up when
someone mentions surge protection. It posts answers roughly related
to the question. Most of what it posts makes sense, it just isn't
presented very well.
